Alabama, 1947. War's over, beautiful, seventeen-year-old Violet lives in a perfect world. everybody loves her. In 2012, she's still beautiful, charming, and surrounded by admirers. Veronica "Ronni" Johnson, licensed practical nurse and aspiring writer, meets the captivating Violet in the assisted living facility where she needs no assistance. When she dies, she leaves Ronni a very generous bequest?only if Ronni completes a book about her life within one year. As she's drawn into the world of young Violet, Ronni is mesmerized by life in a simpler time. It's an irresistible journey. Struggling, insecure, flailing at the keyboard, Ronni juggles her patients, a new boyfriend, and a Samsonite factory of emotional baggage, as she tries to craft a manuscript before her deadline. But then the secrets start to emerge, some of them in person. And they don't stop. Everything changes. To register please email clahey@norwalkpl.org or phone 203-899-2780 ext 15133

  2. Animal Rescue Program First Responder Certification Class

    December 8, 2022, 5:30 PM - 7:45 PM
    @
    Full Auditorium

As Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Program, we respond to a variety of sick, injured and stranded marine animals and sea turtles along 1,000 miles of coastline throughout Connecticut, Rhode Island and Fishers Island, New York. Since our coverage area is so large, our First Responders are often the first eyes on scene for us and we rely on them to report back to us when conducting a health assessment of an animal out in the field if we are unable to get out there right away! This class would serve as the training and certification course to become a First Responder for our Animal Rescue Program. You do not need to have any prior marine mammal or sea turtle experience. One of our favorite things about our first responder program is that it brings together people from all different areas of work with different levels of experience. This class and volunteer program fosters a great environment for learning and we are happy to have anyone join that is interested!
