Getting a Library Card

Must be a Norwalk Resident
(Library Card Application Form)

To get a Norwalk Public Library System card, a new borrower must present either one ID from section A or two ID's from section B.

A) The following IDs are acceptable by themselves, if they are signed, valid (unexpired), current:

Connecticut Driver's License
Connecticut Photo ID

US passport with home address. (Some passports do not list address in which case a second ID is needed.)

        B) Two IDs required: One from each column.

Establish Identity

Establish Residency
(Valid, in name of borrower, Norwalk Address)
Credit Card (valid, signed) Norwalk tax bill (for residence, not property owned or business owned)
Employer ID with photo Utility bill
Alien registration with photo Lease
"Green Card" Personal Mail
US Military card with photo Auto Registration
Social Security card (signed)  
School ID with photo  

If you live in another town in Connecticut please bring your current hometown library card with you to check out materials from Norwalk Public Library. A first time user must show a second form of identification to verify identity.

Replacement fee for a lost library card is $2.00.
